Hull Preservation 2021 Campaign Week 3

Rust, Rust, and More Rust!

It is the enemy of all things metal. Battleship IOWA is no exception to its threat. Fighting rust may be the biggest physical battle of the rest of her life.

COO and Chief Engineer Mike Getscher discusses what’s happening with rust down at the ship’s wind and water line in this short video. Click on the photo to listen!

Hull Preservation Goal

Between now and May 26, 2021, we need to raise $200,000 to keep the preservation work on track. We’re already off to a great start with two donation matching opportunities:
  • A $3,000 donation from Rich Abele and Bob Odien. Before we officially launched the campaign, Rich offered to double match the first $1,000 with $2,000. Before we could announce the match, Bob Odien stepped up with the first $1,000 and the match was over!
  • Charles McCarthy offered to double match a $500 gift.  $500 = $1,500  And that match was met within days!

Are you interested in sponsoring a match? If so, reach out to our VP of Development & Marketing, Joleen Deatherage.  The match can be any amount – it’s a fun way to inspire our supporters and reach our goal.  Or run your own campaign by challenging your friends and family to match your gift!

If you need assistance making your donation, email our development team.  You can also mail a check to:

Pacific Battleship Center
250 South Harbor Blvd.
San Pedro, CA 90731

Thank you for your support!
