Announcing The Underserved Veteran Women Project
Los Angeles has the largest veteran population in the United States, many of whom are underserved or homeless. Women veterans, especially those over the age of fifty-five, are in need of personal and physical healthcare items that are often omitted from “essential” care packages.
Battleship IOWA Museum is excited to announce the launch of the Underserved Veteran Women Project in partnership with the Veteran Peer Access Network (VPAN) and Veterans West. This project is intended to alleviate the mentioned shortages by bringing the community together to give back to those who gave so much in service of others.
Just spending $5 to purchase essential items can go a long way in providing these women veterans the items and care they need. You can support the project by purchasing items from the Amazon Charity List.

A Special Night For Operation Enduring Freedom Vets
The necessity for the last-minute cancellation of the 2021 LA Fleet Week saddened us for many reasons. Extremely high on the list was that it meant we were not in the position to bring together our veterans and the extended military community of supporters to honor the service of the courageous men and women who wear the cloth of our country. Such a gathering would be particularly poignant during these difficult and challenging times, so we’re not giving up that aim.
On Friday, Sept. 10, 2021 – the eve of the twentieth anniversary of the 9-11 attacks, in partnership with LA Fleet Week Foundation, we’ll be hosting a CASINO NIGHT aboard Battleship IOWA.
The event is FREE and open to all OEF veterans or Gold Star family members plus a guest. All attendees must be 21 or over.
Gates open at 6:30 PM. Last call is at 11:30 PM. In addition to casino games galore, the event will feature food and drink and live entertainment from DJ Ravidrums, comedians Jeff Ross, April Macie, and Kate Quigley, and more!
