STRENGTHENING OUR COMMUNITY

Strengthening our community with programs focused on safety, support, and place.

COMMUNITY PROGRAMS

The Battleship USS Iowa is utilized to benefit the community through a variety of offerings.  Our community pillar focuses on supporting public safety exercises, fundraising activities for local organizations, socialization activities, and community development.   Since opening in 2012, we have supported numerous local organizations with complimentary space usage and donated experiences.  The museum has attracted the attention of millions of people across the world to San Pedro, CA.  This attention continues to contribute to the significant growth in the local economy.  The staff and volunteers of the Battleship USS Iowa museum are proud of their role in supporting the community.

To schedule a public safety exercise, contact events@labattleship.com.  To request donated space or admissions for your 501c3 non-profit organization, contact development@labattleship.com.  To volunteer, click here.

SAFETY

The ship is an in-situ environment for public safety exercises in support of law enforcement agencies.  We support dive, search and rescue, confined space, special operations, maritime enforcement, and a variety of training types.

Additionally, we assist in the annual LA Fleet Week Defense Support of Civilian Authorities (DSCA).  This collaboration brings together leadership from civilian and governmental agencies to plan for major disasters that may effect the Los Angeles region. Use of the ship is complimentary for all of these exercises.

How can you help?  Your donations and sponsorships help cover the cost to provide this service to our community.  Please consider donating or becoming a sponsor.

COMMUNITY SUPPORT

Battleship USS Iowa is a top 5 museum in Los Angeles and a unique waterfront event venue.  As a 501c3 non-profit organization, we feel an obligation to support our community as a positive resource.  We proudly donate tickets to fundraisers supporting non-profit organizations.  Additionally, we will provide complimentary or discounted event space waivers and special tours to select 501c3 non-profit organizations with mission nexus.  Help us show appreciation for your local organization today!

For ticket donations, please contact development@labattleship.com.  For events, please contact events@labattleship.com.

SENSE OF PLACE

Participating in programs aboard Battleship USS Iowa provides each individual with a special experience or a “sense of place”. The community bonds are powerful, as individuals come together in common purpose.  Whether your are supporter or volunteer, you are always a part of the IOWA Family.  The sense of comradery and place creates bonds that help nourish the community as a whole.

Battleship IOWA is the preferred venue for community engagements on the LA Waterfront – from LA Fleet Week, to holiday celebrations, to entertainment on the fantail. Check out our calendar for a full list of events open to the public.
