USS Iowa Cruise Jacket
Object/Artifact
USS Iowa cruise jacket from 1989 Mediterranean cruise. Navy wool, lined, with collar, zippered front and elastic waistband. Two breast pockets with buttoned flaps and two front pockets. Sleeves have cuffs that button; cuffs, when rolled back and buttoned, reveal embroidered dragons in green, red and gold.
Front is decorated with patches from:
International Peacekeeping Force - Beirut Lebanon and
Mediterranean Cruise - USS Iowa BB-61 - 1989.
Flap of left breast pocket is embroidered with the name STU in gold.
Left sleeve has flag patches from (top to bottom): USA, Lebanon, Gibraltar, Germany, Spain, and Turkey.
Right sleeve has flag patches from (top to bottom): the state of South Carolina, Italy, Israel, France, Egypt, UK, and Morocco.
Back side is embroidered with an eagle in flight (the eagle is gold, white and brown) carrying an American flag. Above the eagle is embroidered in gold
