Battleship USS IOWA Museum Accomplishments As A Community Platform Highlighted In 2023 Annual Report

Among the Top Museums and Attractions in Los Angeles, the Iconic Battleship Serves as a High-Visibility Platform for Connecting, Engaging, and Strengthening the Surrounding Communities

 

SAN PEDRO, Calif. – March 28, 2024Battleship USS IOWA Museum, a top five museum and attraction in the Los Angeles area and future home of the National Museum of the Surface Navy, showcased its impact on the community with the release of its 2023 Annual Report. Metrics from the museum’s community and education programs, and Veterans West highlight the immense value that the museum contributes to the surrounding community through a diverse portfolio of programs.

Community Platform Builds Connections, Promotes Civic Engagement, Strengthens Resilience.

Through its community programs, Battleship IOWA donated venue support worth over $613,000 to host dozens of events in support of local organizations, civic engagement, and community strengthening. More than 625 tickets for tours and one-of-a-kind experiences aboard Battleship IOWA were donated to local nonprofit organizations in support of their fundraising efforts. Los Angeles Fleet Week, one of the city’s largest public events, brought more than 100,000 visitors to the LA Waterfront, and over 250,000 people were reached through more than 110 events held across Los Angeles throughout the week. As an in-situ environment for a variety of public safety and emergency response exercises, 108 participants received specialized training in dive, search and rescue, confined space, special operations, maritime enforcement, and more.

industries in Los Angeles.”
