A Brief Update – 04/13/20

IOWA Family:

Thank you to all of the generous contributors and supporters since the beginning of this crisis.  We have received a tremendous outpouring of love and support including major contributions to help us pay the critical expenses and payroll in the coming weeks and months.

We continue to closely monitor the evolving situation and potential for reopening.  Recently the City and County of Los Angeles extended their safe at home order until May 15th.  We suspect that we will be delayed further in reopening past this date into June at the earliest.  We must plan and manage the organization with the consideration of additional safe at home orders occurring due to virus flare-ups.  This drives how we manage our cash flow and decisions we make moving forward.

The team is already in planning stages for a phased reopening.  Social distance tours, changes in locations visited, reduction in overnight program guests, and suspension of social gatherings are in our near future.  Avoiding confined spaces in groups is expected with some staff continuing to work virtually for the foreseeable future.  A positive for us may be the expected increase in visitation of perceived outdoor venues to maintain social distancing.

I am saddened by how many members of our IOWA Family are affected during this crisis.  Please know that we are in this together and here to support you during this crisis whether it is moral support, a shoulder to lean on, or simply a hello.  Please feel free to reach out to any of us, but a few contacts to reach out to via email, Zoom, or Google Hangouts include:

Sue Schmidt – Volunteer Coordinator
Janice Bowman – Veterans Manager
Ro Moser – Education Manager
Joleen Deatherage – Development Director
Jonathan Williams – President & CEO

Thank you for your support and friendship.  Knowing you are by our sides is what it makes it possible for us to continue planning for the future and focused on a positive future!

Stay safe!
