The 5-centavos bills are marked on the face with: THE JAPANESE GOVERNMENT FIVE CENTAVOS PM V Followed by Japanese Kanji The 10-centavos bills are marked on the face with: THE JAPANESE GOVERNMENT TEN CENTAVOS PX Followed by Japanese Kanji The bills appear to be new and uncirculated. NOTE: Japanese Imperial Currency was considered worthless in the Philippines in WW II. When the Japanese occupied the Philippine Islands, the Japanese government confiscated all hard currency, brought in printing presses, and issued new currency. The Filipinos refused to use the Japanese Imperial Currency, and sometimes dumped it in the streets.
