Description Imperial Japanese flag. Rising sun (with rays) design printed in red ink on white silk. Edges are stitched. Approximately 6.25" x 4.5". This flag design was used from 1870 onward by the Meiji government, Imperial Japanese Army, and Imperial Japanese Navy. It is still used sometimes to the present day. Flag is somewhat faded and lightly stained.
