Veterans Resource Center Welcome Sign Naming Campaign Week 4

Catching Up with our Core Pillars

Battleship IOWA Museum is dedicated to creating a positive impact that ripples far beyond the footprint of the ship’s impressive 887 foot hull. How do we accomplish that goal? We reach out through our three mission-driven pillars of VeteransEducation, and Community. We’re going to use today’s email as an opportunity for quick updates across all three.

Veterans

Bust out the sawzalls and welding torches. Our ops team, many veterans themselves, is maintaining a furious pace, cranking out the work seven days per week to get our Veterans Resource Center open to provide life-changing and life-saving services to the veterans in the LA-metro area.

Check out the progress they’ve made so far:

You don’t have to swing a hammer to contribute to this project. You can join the effort to build out the VRC by adding your name – or a loved one’s – to our welcome sign. Let’s fill this board with heart-felt and heart-warming inscriptions that will inspire everyone who sees them for years to come.

Honor today’s veterans with your inscription or those who served before them, or just let them know you’re behind them all the way!

We’ve got four inscription options:

  • One-Star$1,000 – Your name will be included on the Veterans Resource Center welcome sign alongside other one-star donors.
  • Two-Star: $2,500 – Your name will appear on the Veterans Resource Center welcome sign with other two-star donors. Two-star level donor names will be displayed in a larger size than one-star level donors.
  • Three-Star$5,000 – You’ll receive a plaque inscribed with your name and two additional lines of text (total of three lines for your inscription).
  • Four-Star$10,000 – Four-star level donors will receive a plaque featuring three additional lines of text (total of four lines for your inscription).

But that’s not all. Your support matters at any level. If you prefer, you can donate an amount of your choice by clicking here.

One thing you can always do that’s free is help us spread the word. Share this campaign with friends and family. Let them in on your passion: tell them why this program is special to you and what makes you choose to support it.

All donors will receive a link to an online form when the campaign closes on July 18, telling them the number of characters they will be allowed to use and confirming their inscription. All funds raised through this campaign will support Veterans West programs at the Battleship IOWA!

You’re more than welcome to donate with a check if you prefer. Please mail it to:

Pacific Battleship Center
250 South Harbor Blvd.
San Pedro, CA 90731
Attn: VRC Campaign

If you have questions or need assistance making your donation over the phone, please contact Matthias Leier at 877-446-9261 ext. 746.

Thanks on behalf of Battleship IOWA and the veterans we serve!

Education

Looking for an awesome place to send your kids for some educational summer fun? Look no further than STEM Adventure Camp aboard Battleship IOWA.

Experiment with buoyancy and energy, practice different forms of ship-to-ship communication, learn the basics of marine navigation, and build prototype rockets to investigate projectile motion. Local LA Harbor families can attend camp for free thanks to the Port of LA’s Community Investment grant. Apply for a scholarship today!

Community

Movies at the battleship are baaaaack! Jump in your car and come join us for the second film in the Summer Drive In Movie Series at the Battleship IOWA. This time bring your family to experience the inspirational story of musician Selena Quintanilla. It’s completely free!

We Won $92K with Your Help

Last week we received a check for $92,700 from LA City Councilman Joe Buscaino for our San Pedro Fallen Veterans Memorial in collaboration with Pedran Steve Marconi. Thank you to everyone who voted. We wouldn’t be able to honor the fallen without your support.
