Hull Preservation 2021 Campaign Week 7

$5,000 Match Won For Hull Preservation!

Last week we announced that we had met the $10,000 match and were halfway to the $5,000 match. You stepped up (again) and helped us win the second match. Thank you!

We now have two new match sponsors and another $5,500 to match before the end of May. We know with your help we can win this one too to keep our magnificent ship afloat!

Since launching the Hull Preservation Campaign 7 weeks ago we’ve raised $45,000. We still have a ways to go before meeting our $200,000 goal, but we’re grateful and inspired by your support. If you’re inspired, please share the great news and help us win this $5,500 match!

Catching Up With Our Curator

Battleship IOWA’s curator Dave Way has a deep passion for naval history. His storage room is full of all sorts of unique and interesting items from IOWA’s storied past. Today he’s sharing one of his favorites. Click below to learn about “trench art.”

Fun Factoid

The amount of paint required to cover Battleship IOWA in 1943 weighed 400,000 pounds – enough for 7.2 million square feet of surface or paint a 5 foot fence 273 miles long. In 2012, we used more than 27,000 pounds of paint just to coat her top surfaces. It cost us over $180,000.

Keep It Going

You can help just as much by getting the word out there. Be an advocate for the ship – share your passion for her and get your friends excited about what she represents and the thriving community she supports.

You can include our eye-opening video to convey how pressing the need is. Here’s the link: https://youtu.be/O2oE7TkfpkY

Or you can send people directly to the donation link here.

Checks can be sent to:

A million thanks for your support!
