Current admission arrangements for uniformed service members and accompanying guests should be confirmed with the team when scheduling.

For a more curated ceremony, Battleship IOWA can accommodate groups of approximately 50 to 300 or more, depending on the selected space, configuration, and budget. The result can range from a focused ceremony followed by cake and photographs to a formal program with seating, flags, audio, a reception, and a full meal.

A Setting for Promotions, Retirements, Commissioning, and Reenlistments

The Bow offers an iconic backdrop beneath the 16-inch guns and can support approximately 100 seated guests or 350 standing. The Covered Fantail provides a protected waterfront setting for larger ceremonies and receptions, while the Captain's Veranda offers a more intimate deck for family, command leadership, and invited guests.

Indoor spaces such as the Wardroom, Enlisted Mess, Captain's Cabin, Admiral's Cabin, and Chief Petty Officer Lounge allow ceremonies and meals to continue in a setting that reflects how sailors and leaders actually lived and worked aboard the ship.

Chief Pinning Aboard a Battleship

Chief pinning is one of the Navy's most significant annual traditions, and Battleship IOWA consistently welcomes Chief pinning events during the season. The setting is especially appropriate: selectees and their families gather aboard a Navy ship, surrounded by the history, spaces, and symbols of generations who came before them.

The Chief Petty Officer Lounge, known throughout the Navy as the Goat Locker, can be incorporated into smaller gatherings or VIP moments. Larger pinning ceremonies can use the ship's outdoor decks, followed by a reception or meal in another space aboard.

Ceremonial Details Can Be Coordinated in One Place

A military ceremony often depends on details that a conventional venue may not understand. The Battleship IOWA events team can coordinate or support flags, ceremonial ammunition or rounds, red carpet, stanchions, seating, podiums, microphones, audio, custom signage, security, tours, and reception requirements.

Because the event is taking place aboard a historic vessel, the team can also help plan guest movement, accessibility, boarding, parking, setup, and the transition from the formal ceremony to photographs, refreshments, or a larger reception.

Include the Family and the Command

Every military milestone is supported by more people than the person standing at the center of the ceremony. Battleship IOWA provides space for spouses, children, parents, shipmates, mentors, command leadership, and veterans to be part of the moment.

The ship also creates natural opportunities for photographs and shared experiences. Families can explore the deck, stand beneath the guns, visit historic spaces, and hear the stories of those who served before them. A private or docent-led tour can be incorporated for guests who may have little experience with Navy history.

Continue the Ceremony With a Reception

Vicky's Doghouse provides in-house catering and serves as the exclusive bar and alcohol provider aboard the ship. Preferred catering partners can support additional menu styles, from light refreshments and cake to formal meals and larger receptions.

Tables, chairs, linens, heaters, lighting, staging, audiovisual equipment, security, and event staffing can be coordinated through the venue, allowing the service member, family, and command to focus on the occasion rather than managing a patchwork of vendors.

Honor Service in a Place That Still Serves

Battleship IOWA is operated by Pacific Battleship Center, a nonprofit organization whose work includes historic preservation, education, veterans programs, community engagement, and the development of the National Museum of the Surface Navy.
