She earned 11 battle stars and became known as the “Battleship of Presidents” after welcoming presidents and national leaders aboard during her service. Located at the stern of the ship, the Covered Fantail is the crown jewel of Battleship IOWA’s outdoor event spaces.

The approximately 4,000-square-foot steel deck can accommodate as many as 280 seated guests or 400 standing guests. Its covered structure preserves the feeling of an outdoor waterfront event while providing important overhead protection.

The 2026 Events Deck lists a 60-by-50-foot tent, 26 round tables, 260 chairs, audio with two microphones, a stage and lighting among the included features. That gives hosts much of the foundational infrastructure needed for a reception, awards dinner, company celebration or wedding.

The Bow

For an unmistakable battleship backdrop, few locations can compete with the Bow.

Located beneath the ship’s enormous 16-inch guns, the Bow creates a dramatic setting for weddings, receptions, media events, press conferences, film productions and corporate gatherings. It accommodates approximately 100 seated guests or as many as 350 standing.

There is no need to build an elaborate backdrop. The ship has already provided one.

Vicky’s Waterfront

Vicky’s Waterfront offers a more relaxed outdoor environment with bistro lighting and sweeping harbor views.

The space can accommodate approximately 150 seated guests or 400 standing guests, making it well suited for cocktail receptions, casual company gatherings, networking events and food-and-beverage activations.

The Captain’s Veranda and Gun Turret Three

For smaller outdoor gatherings, the Captain’s Veranda provides a covered, semi-private setting adjacent to the Captain’s Cabin. It is well suited for VIP receptions, intimate dinners and cocktail gatherings overlooking the harbor.

Gun Turret Three creates an even more unusual experience. Guests can gather on top of a 16-inch gun turret in an intimate outdoor space with sweeping views of the waterfront and the ship itself.

The Officers’ Wardroom

For an indoor event with authentic naval character, the Officers’ Wardroom allows guests to experience the space where the ship’s officers once dined.

It is the largest indoor event space listed in the deck, accommodating approximately 90 seated or 150 standing guests. The Wardroom includes fixed tables, chairs and audio equipment with two microphones, making it useful for private dinners, meetings, presentations and events requiring an indoor environment.

The Captain’s Cabin and Admiral’s Cabin

Smaller groups can step into some of the ship’s most meaningful executive spaces.

The Captain’s Cabin offers a fixed conference table, lounge seating and an intimate setting used by captains, admirals and President Franklin D. Roosevelt. The Admiral’s Cabin provides an even smaller executive environment with conference seating, a sitting area and a wall-mounted television.

The Enlisted Mess and Chief Petty Officer Lounge

The Enlisted Mess accommodates approximately 124 seated or 200 standing guests and retains the character of the ship’s historic dining operation. The Chief Petty Officer Lounge offers a smaller, private indoor setting with seating areas and a television, providing guests with a glimpse into one of the Navy’s most distinctive traditions.
