Team,

It’s a busy and exciting October as we celebrate the Navy’s 250th birthday today with a special Chairman’s Reception unveiling Great Ships and prepare to head into Freedom of the Seas Weekend.

I trust your department managers and leadership have already connected with you regarding recent policy changes and reminders, but I want to take a moment to reinforce a few important points for all staff and volunteers:

Policy Reminders

  • Schedule: The majority of our operations occur over the weekend. Leadership and managers are expected to coordinate coverage in support of organizational needs, including EOD / OOD.
  • Time Clock: Mandatory use of the provided time clock system for all hourly employees.
  • Communication: 24-hour response time to emails on scheduled workdays, use of calendars for scheduling and visibility, prompt communication of concerns and proactive team collaboration to achieve multi-purpose outcomes.
  • Remote Work: Public-facing and maintenance roles are not eligible for remote work, administrative roles may work one day per week remotely, exceptions require Leadership and CEO approval.
  • Dress Code: Professional, well-fitted business casual with closed-toe shoes, except for engineering and maintenance roles for safety reasons.(Full policy available on the Crew Portal at https://crewportal.pacificbattleship.com/portal/)
  • Policy Enforcement: Mandatory adherence with mutual accountability across all levels.
  • Position Descriptions: Updated job descriptions are due by the beginning of December to reflect current operations.

Organizational Updates – Effective October 20th

We’re making a few changes to strengthen our program and crew operations structure:

  • Tiffany Ellerbeck will transition from her full-time role as Director of Public Programs to a part-time position supporting education initiatives.
  • Mike Nguyen will become Director of Programs, leading the merged Military & Veterans Affairs and Education department, aligning with our focus on career pathways and maritime workforce development, where veterans mentor future leaders.
  • VJ Alcomindras and the Experience department will report to me for the interim period prior to our opening of the next experience in 2026.
  • Hershell Hardimon rejoins the team as Director of Crew Operations, overseeing Human Resources, Volunteer Services, Security & Safety, and Training.

Please join me in thanking Tiffany for her ongoing contributions, congratulating Mike on his expanded role, and welcoming Hershell back to the team.

Thank you all for your continued commitment as we strengthen our organization and advance our mission together.
