One Ship. One Crew. One Mission.
That’s our credo at Battleship IOWA. Hundreds of individuals just like you have come together to bring this World War II-Korean War-Cold War legend to life. We have the honor and privilege of being the ship’s “fourth crew,” and you can be part of it.
As a gutsy and ambitious non-profit organization, we have to run lean. We rely heavily on volunteers to carry out the myriad tasks required to keep an operation of this scope functioning. By “heavily” we mean they are about ninety percent of the team. You’ll find volunteers in every department aboard – sometimes even managing a department.
What Can You Do?
When we said every department, we meant it. The “big four” are Tours, Safety/Security, Engineering ( maintenance and restoration), and Education. Those present the greatest consistent needs, but talent abounds here. We’re always looking for the following skills:

…and more!
Have a skill you think we can use? Talk to us. We’d love to find a place for you.
It Goes Beyond The Ship
We are passionate and purposeful about this great grey lady, but there’s a third word up there: community. Like-mindedness creates camaraderie. We don’t just work on the ship together. We get to hang out on the ship for potlucks, lectures, and movies, check out behind-the-scenes areas the public never sees, take field trips together, enjoy traditions that celebrate service milestones, and get discounts in the ship’s store and at our eatery, Vicky’s Doghouse.
